This tasty venison recipe will give you and your family simple rustic meal to warm your taste buds.
Ingredients
  • 2 pounds of venison sirloin steak, cut at least 1/2 inch thick
  • Salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste
  • Olive oil
  • 1 Medium onion, peeled sliced thick
  • Cooking Spray
Directions
  1. Preset your oven to Broil - Spray your broiling pan liberally with cooking spray
  2. Place your pan in the broiler on the rack closest to the heat source.
  3. Rub your venison steaks on both side with olive oil, salt and pepper
  4. Separate the rings of your sliced onion and set aside
  5. Carefully (it will be very Hot) lay your venison steaks flat on your heated broiler pan and return under broiler.
  6. Cook 5 steaks minutes on one side - then turn and cook on the other side 3 minutes.
  7. Lower your broiler rack a position away from the heat source and top your steaks with the prepared onion slices and return under broiler. If you like you meats done more to the well done side allow for longer cooking time prior to placing onion slices. Cook until onion slices are golden brown.
  8. Remove from oven and set your steaks to rest 5 to 10 prior to carving.
Additional Notes
In days gone by you had to be a hunter or have someone in your family who hunts to enjoy good venison. Not any more, many larger markets now carry this lean healthy meat in their cases. Try something different and indulge yourself in the tender flavors of venison. The method for cooking is similar as that for beef, it is leaner of a meat so be careful to over cook it.
