Sweet Crescents with Jam Filling
I make these delicious pastries every year around Christmas, and every time they are a big hit. They can be filled with chocolate or nuts as well.
Ingredients
- 8 oz. unsalted butter
- 8 oz. milk
- 1 lb. powder sugar
- 1 tbsp. vinegar
- 1 tbsp. yeast
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 1/2 tbsp. vanilla sugar
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 jar of your favorite jam
Directions
- Make dough with all ingredients, except powdered sugar and vanilla sugar.
- Put in a bowl, cover it and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven at 350 F.
- Cut dough in 4. Roll out each piece of dough 1/4" thick.
- Cut the dough into squares.
- Place a teaspoon of jam in centre of each square.
- Roll it diagonally to get the crescent shape.
- Bake 12-14 minutes in preheated oven until golden brown.
- In the meantime mix powdered sugar and vanilla.
- Roll every still hot crescent in the sugar.
- Let cool and serve. It tastes even better the second or third day.
