When my sister invites us to a lasagna dinner, she never gets no for an answer. She has allowed me to share her favorite recipe with everyone.
Directions
(Meat Sauce)
Sry the chopped onion, and add the diced tomatoes. Add the groung beef, and fry till nearly done.
Add 1 cup water, the wine, salt and pepper. Simmer till cooked.
Thicken the meat sauce a bit if neccessary.
(White Sauce)
Melt the butter in a small saucepan, over low heat.
Add the flour, and mix till well combined.
Add the milk, and mix well. Stir over medium heat until the sauce thickens.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
(Layer The Lasagna)
In the bottom of a well greased casserole dish, start layering the ingredients:
Start with 1/3 of the meat sauce, top with 1/3 of the white sauce. Add a layer of lasagna pasta sheets.
Sprinkle 1/2 of the riccotta cheese on top. Start the layers again with 1/3 of the remaining sauces.
Sprinkle the remaining riccotta cheese. Top with the remaining meat sauce and white sauce.
Sprinkle the top with parmesan cheese.
Allow the lasagna to rest for 40 minutes, while you preheat the oven to 450 degrees F
Bake the Lasagna for 30 minutes.
Serve hot.
Additional Notes
It is a good idea to make extra lasagna, as you never know when Garfield is going to pop around for a meal. (That is our excuse for making extra for leftover snacks the next morning!)
