Beef Steak Roll

This easy and economical beef dish will wow your family with its wonderful rich flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 pounds Round Steak, pounded thin
- 1/4 cup onion, chopped
- 2 Tablespoons Olive oil, for onions
- 4 cups of packaged stuffing mix, chicken flavored
- 1 1/4 cups water or beef broth
- 1 egg, beaten
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 Tablespoons Olive oil, for meat
- 1 Tablespoon of butter, for meat
- Flour to dredge meat rolls
- 1/2 cup hot water or broth, for meat rolls
- Butchers string
- Dutch oven with cover
- 1 Tablespoon Flour, for gravy
- 1 cup hot water, for gravy
Directions
- Saute onions in Dutch oven with olive oil until golden and set aside.
- In a large bowl; mix together; onions, stuffing mix, water/broth, and egg.
- Lay steaks flat; divide stuffing mix equally between numbers of steaks. Spread stuffing over the steak and roll up like a jelly roll; secure by tying with butchers string to hold in place.
- Preheat oven for 325 degrees
- Heat olive oil and butter in Dutch oven used to cook onions. Dredge meat rolls on all sides, carefully place into skillet and brown rolls on all sides. Remove meat and add remaining water/broth, scrapping browning from bottom of dish.
- Cover Dutch oven well and bake for 1 hour. Remove meat rolls to a platter and make gravy in the Dutch oven with water and flour, heat to a boil on stovetop 1 to 3 minutes to cook flour through.
- Serve Beef Steak Rolls topped with hot gravy.
