Soft and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
1 1/2 sticks (1 1/2 cup) butter flavored crisco shortening
2 1/2 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
4 tbsp. milk
2 tbsp. vanilla extract
2 large eggs
3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
12 oz. Ghirardelli chocolate chips
2 cups chopped pecans, if desired
These are soft and chewy. I like to use Ghirardelli chocolate chips for the best flavor.
Directions
Heat oven to 375 F.
Beat shortening and brown sugar in large bowl wth mixer at medium speed until light and fluffy.
Beat in milk, vanilla, and egg.
Stir in flour, salt, and baking soda.
Fold in chocolate chips and nuts.
Drop by rounded tablespoons 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes for chewy cookies or 11 to 13 minutes for crisp cookies.
Cool 2 minutes on cookie sheet before transferring to cooling rack.
