Greek Lamb Burgers

Ingredients

1 lb ground lamb
1 small onion, grated
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 tablespoons fresh mint leaves, chopped
1 teaspoon dried or 1 tablespoon fresh oregano
1 teaspoon salt
garnishes, as desired

A spicy alterna-burger to rule the barbeque.

Directions

Combine the ground meats with the salt and pepper. Shape into patties.
Grill to desired doneness.
Garnish and serve immediately.

Additional Notes

I am a burger fiend. As such, there are few things I haven’t tried making a burger out of. My all time favorite, however, are lamb burgers. And when going lamb, the one thing I can’t resist are the flavors of Greece and Northern Africa. Apart from the distinct taste of the lamb, these burgers are all about the spices. The allspice in particular has become a signature here, just enough to be noticeable but subtle enough to keep compelling bite after bite.
