Mediterranean Buns with Olives and Mozzarella
 

Ingredients

2 cups warm water
6 tbsp olive oil
2 tsp salt
2 cups whole wheat flour
4 cups white flour
3 tsp active dry yeast
2 tbsp melted butter
1 tsp minced dried oregano
1 tsp minced dried basil
1/2 lb shredded mozzarella
20 diced black olives

After I made these yummy buns home for the first time, I promised myself to never buy them again from the bakery!

Directions

Combine water, oil, butter, salt, flour and dry yeast.
Add oregano, basil, mozzarella and olives and mix together.
Cover with a kitchen cloth and let rise 1 hour.
Oil a baking pan. Roll the buns to the golf ball size.
Preheat oven to 400 F
Cover and let rise for another 15 minutes.
Bake in the oven for 20 minutes or until the buns are golden.

Additional Notes

Try adding 2 tbsp sun dried tomatoes or 1 tbsp minced garlic for a little variety.
